Why does a pres.drug go generic years sooner in CANADA??

When I have a sinus inf THE ONLY antibiotic that KICKS it is LEVAQUIN 500mg. Some times I have to have 2 doses. At $60 co-pay per dose,,it's rediculus. In CANADA the generic is so much cheaper. We are such suckers in USA
