I have an Intel Desktop Board D975XBX. Is it any good?
Ok so I wanted to know about my motherboard. It can handle up to 8Gb of 667 MHz ram and is apparently optimized for X-fire. It has 3 PCI-E slots...so can I have 3 cards running at the same time? Can it utilize quad-core? Should I get a new motherboard [D975XBX2]??? Or is it good enough? How many hard-drives can I have with my current motherboard? I intend to get into heavy PC gaming. I have an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ and 2 gigs of OCZ DDR2-5400 [667 MHz] ram. Current processor is Intel Dual Core with a clock-speed of 3.4 GHz. Running 32 bit Windows XP operating system, btw should I get 64 bit to utilize a maximum of 8 gigs? I know the D975XBX2 can handle up to 800 MHz ram and can hold 3 cards, 4 hard-drives and in the description on the site, it doesn't say anything specifically about X-fire. I also read a review on it...I just want to know what I should upgrade to get a really good gaming computer. I'm still young and not yet employed, so when I do I intend to save money to buy parts that will perform well and last in the long run for gaming. Is my motherboard good at all? I don't even know what series its in xD. Please do tell with details! :) Thanks a bunch!~
