Can you use IBM/DOS format floppy disks with macintosh?

This is probably a stupid question, but I have a Macintosh Powerbook 165, and after i accidentally ripped the power cord out, (because the battery is toast,) it wants me to reinstall the OS. On my PC, I downloaded System Software 7.5.3. I then put the first part of it on to an IBM/DOS format floppy disk. It doesn't work. Does this have to do with the format, or is it a bad download/disk? If it is the format, what is the correct format to use?
